George John Binks

George was born February 24, 1848 in Clerkenwell.

He appears in the 1851 British census living with his parents and brothers at 20 Skinner Street, Finsbury (Clerkenwell).

George emigrated with his parents to Ontario, Canada, possibly in 1857 with his Uncle Colin A. H. Binks' family. But his death certificate states that he had been in Canada for 68 years. This would indicate that he arrived in 1863-1864.

He married Ellen Charlotte McDonald (born Ontario, November 21, 1851) - date of marriage unknown - and had at least 10 known children.

George was a Civil Servant according to his death certificate. He worked for the Post Office and the annual 'Civil Servants List' indicates he was first appointed on August 13, 1874.

George died on September 4, 1932 aged 84 years in Craig Street, Russell, Ontario. He was buried at Notre Dame Cemetery, Ottawa.

His wife, Ellen, had died at 467 McLeod Street, Carleton, Ottawa on July 13, 1927.

Nothing more is known.
