Madeline Grace Andrews (Huskisson)

Madeline with daughters Grace & Edith

Madeline Grace Andrews (Huskisson) was born November 9, 1873 at 6 Seymour Row, St. Pancras and baptised on November 24, 1873 at Old Church, St Pancras, London. She was a child of Thomas Hemming Andrews and Annie (Rogers) but there is no indication that Annie had married prior to her marriage to Francis John Huskisson. Annie is described as a spinster on her marriage certificate to Francis John, and it must be presumed that Madeline was an illegitimate child. By the time of the 1881 census, she was Madeline Grace Huskisson.

Madeline (or 'Grace' as she was better known) married twice and had children within both marriages. Her first husband was Alfred Larter (a Lithographer, born 1869 in St Pancras) and they married on April 15, 1900 at The Unitarian Christian Church, corner of Despard Road, Highgate Hill, Islington. Their only child, Grace Annie A. Larter was born in Islington bet. April-Jun 1901, and died bet. Oct.-Dec 1901.

Alfred is a patient in the Chest hospital, Shoreditch in the 1901 census. He died aged 33 bet. April-June 1902.

Grace's second marriage was to widower, Henry Thomas Green (a 'Warehouseman', born bet. July - September 1872) on December 25, 1908 at Holy Trinity Church, East Finchley. Henry, or 'Harry' as he was known, had been married to Eliza Pepper (Born St Pancras Bet. 1871 - 1872, died bet. July - September 1907. They'd married in St Pancras Bet. July - September 1896). There were two sons from Harry's previous marriage: Henry Thomas Green (Jun) born bet. January - March 1899 and Alfred James Green*, born bet. April - June 1907. Harry and 'Grace' had two daughters of their own, Grace (born 1909) and Edith Green.

*(Information from Richard Shipley: "The son Alfred had a son by the name of Cliff who was in the submarines. He was 6’6 tall")

Madeline Grace died in the 1950s.
