Mary Ann Rose Climer Barnett

'Annie' Barnett (as her name appears in the 1901 census) was born at 8 Ernest Place, Bethnal Green on December 25, 1890. Her birth certificate gives her full name as Mary Ann Rose Climer Barnett. Since 'Climer' is not a recognised Christian name, it may have been borrowed from someone related to the family; possibly a grandmother's maiden name? Her mother and also her sister Maria Eliza have 'Claxton' as 'middle' names however no links have yet been found to anyone with the surnames of either 'Claxton' or 'Climer'.

As yet, I can't find a marriage record for 'Annie' but we know from the above photo that she had two children, Lil and Rene.

My Aunt Sallie Brown (nee Rutland) told me in 2001 that while sorting through some of her late mother (Mary Ellen Rutland)'s papers, photos and memorabilia, she'd found a press cutting with a photo of a couple, 'Arthur and Peggy Hart', the article being an appeal from an old shipmate of Arthur who hadn't seen him for 40 years and wanted to get in touch again. Handwriting on it read: "Cousin Peggy, sister to Lil and Rene. Lil and Peggy - two sisters married George and Arthur Hart - two brothers."

So there were three children and while a birth registration for 'Peggy'/or 'Margaret' has yet to be found, a possible fourth child, Cyril, seems likely if the birth registrations (below) are 'our' family.

The birth registrations indicate that the father's name was Milafsky, though I've yet to locate a marriage registration for 'Annie' and a Mr Milafsky.

This following Marriage registration may be 'our' Lilian - and if so, indicates she married Walter Collins/Kolinski bet. April-June 1941. But it would contradict Mary Ellen Rutland's recollection (see above) that Lilian married George Hart. That is, unless Lily married twice.

More speculation:
This is could be Renee, though her age should be 21. Without knowing the circumstances of her death, it is possible that her age was estimated by the informant.
