William Henry Binks
Born July 23, 1825 (probably in Woolwich - in spite of 1881 census info) and Christened at St. Mary Magdalene Church, Woolwich on August 14, 1825.
Known as William Wright Binks after his father, George Wright Binks, he married Emma Trist (born Bet. 1833 - 1834, Limehouse) and had at least two children.
In the 1861 census they were living at 19 West Ferry Road, Poplar next door to his parents (George & Mary) at No. 17 and his brother, Joseph Rose Binks at No. 18.
The family were living at 7 Strafford Street, Poplar in the 1871 census.
William appears to have inherited his father's Wire-Rope company by the time of the 1881 census. He would have taken over the business from his late brother, Joseph Rose Binks after his death in 1878. It must have been quite an industry with "50 men and 11 boys" in his employment.
