William James Binks

William was born in London, Middlesex, Ontario, Canada on September 11, 1891.

William may have emigrated to the USA as early as 1910.

He must have returned briefly because he married Blanche Gertrude Quick (born December 17. 1892) at St Thomas Church, Elgin County, Canada on November 9, 1912.

The 1920 census states that Blanche had emigrated to the USA in 1912. So it is probably the case that William took Blanche to the USA shortly after their wedding. The same census indicates that Blanche's mother also arrived in 1912 so probably travelled together.

At some point Blanche left the USA and returned again on April 14, 1914. They remained until June 5th 1917 when they again returned to Canada.

William and Blanche arrived back in Detroit, Michigan, USA on December 24, 1919. They were intending to stay at 965 Hudson Street, Detroit.

A further border crossing arriving on January 24, 1920 was made by William and a daughter, Gladys who was aged 6 years. They were intending to stay at 965 Hudson Avenue (Street?), Detroit.

The 1930 US Census shows William, Blanche and Gladys living at (what looks like) 'Martrim' Avenue, Detroit. It also shows that William was a Draughtsman. To confuse the issue further, it states that William emigrated to the USA in 1915 while Blanche and Gladys emigrated in 1917.

Blanche visited Canada returning to Detroit on August 17, 1941

William died in Warren, Kentucky on May 7, 1961 according to the Kentucky Death Index.
